Southern California Koi Rescue is a registered nonprofit animal rescue specializing in large Japanese koi fish. Originally founded in 2008, our dedicated team of volunteers has completed hundreds of onsite large koi rescues located throughout CA, NV, and AZ, while successfully finding new forever homes for thousands of precious living creatures that would have otherwise been discarded. We love what we do, and it shows.
Very few organizations offer the unique level of services we provide. This explains why so many of our onsite koi rescues are referrals by respected koi dealers, koi breeders, and pond professionals. In addition to private residential fishponds and water gardens, we also often complete complex large koi rescues from large commercial water features. Our mission is to find properly vetted new forever homes for the majestic creatures entrusted to our care.
As our primary rehoming method, most large koi fish we take in are ultimately rehomed as initial stock for large, properly designed koi ponds constructed by our supporting pond builders. Beginning in October 2020, out of necessity during the height of the COVID pandemic, we also began making a limited number of large koi and butterfly koi fish available to approved hobbyists via private adoption. In addition to large Japanese koi, we also provide rescue and rehoming services for other pond fish, aquatic turtles, and various land tortoise species.
